UCR’s production line is the largest of its kind in Middle East with a rod production capacity exceeding 200,000 metric tons per annum. UCR utilizes the industry leading Southwire Continuous Rod Casting Technology (from the US) for the manufacture of its premium copper rods.
The Southwire Continuous Rod (SCR) process is
currently the most technically advanced continuous rod system to produce electrolytic tough pitch (ETP) copper rod in the world. Southwire technology has been an innovator and technology leader in copper rod manufacturing since the 1960s.
The Southwire Continuous Rod (SCR) process allows production of the highest quality copper wire rod and it has continued the improvement and development of the system to increase product quality & efficiencies. More than fifty percent (50%) of all copper rods made in the world is produced using the SCR technology.

Laboratory Testing Facilities
The copper rod is produced from a continuous casting and hot rolling process using copper cathodes conforming to ASTM B115. All the UCR’s production is in compliance with ASTM B49 – 15 standards.
Our state-of-the-art laboratory provides the tools necessary to manufacture, monitor and test product that meets and exceeds international standards.
Equipment used in the testing process includes: LECO Oxygen Analyzer, Twist/Torsion Tester, UTS (Ultimate Tensile Strength) Tester, Resistivity Bridge, Metallurgical Microscope.
